Claim excesses

What excess will I pay and when?

Your schedule of insurance will confirm what your individual excess amount is, this is the amount agreed when you take your policy out. If you make a claim and your car needs repairing the agreed excess should be paid direct to the approved repair garage. If your car is written off, the excess will be deducted from any settlement payment you confirm with us. If your car was damaged and another driver was at fault - and their insurance company accept this - you should be able to reclaim your excess.

Do I pay an excess if the accident was not my fault?

Yes, this can be claimed back via the third party insurers, subject to them agreeing you are not at fault.

If I am not claiming but the other party is then do, I pay an excess?

An excess is the amount you pay towards your own repairs or claim so you don't have to pay an excess for another party's claim.
